Step 4 - Cultural Proficiency: Embrace
The badge signifies that the student has successfully completed all three levels designated for improved cultural competence and are now defined as culturally proficient.
Questions and proposals for this badge should be in consultation with the Cultural Competence Badge Committee. Direct all initial questions to Daniel.Brewster@mail.wvu.edu, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the semester before beginning efforts to attain this badge.
Within the proposal, the student and committee will define expectations.
Student has successfully completed the cultural competency knowledge, application and dissemination requirements. This proficiency badge requires a public presentation demonstrating how to effectively engage in ways that allow for greater cultural competence. This presentation should educate and inform those present how to best create a welcoming environment appreciating similarities and differences among cultures.
